Blackjack

Blackjack is a popular Casino game similar to 'pontoon' or '21'. Four packs of playing cards are used and are dealt from a 'shoe.

All the players are playing against the bank. Cards have their face value, with picture cards counting as 10 and Aces counting as 1 or 11. The object of the game is for the player to hold a hand with w higher total than the dealer without exceeding 21. A two card hand of 21 (i.e. an Ace with a picture card or 10) is a natural 'Blackjack'.

The player place their bets in the boxes in front of them, the dealer deals a card face down to each of the players and then one to himself. The dealer then deals a second card face up to each of the players. The dealer then offers each player in turn the opportunity to draw more cards. If the players hand exceeds a total of 21 then they lose. When all the players hands are completed the dealer deals himself a second card. He has no options - with a total of 16 or less he must draw a further card and must stand with a total of 17 or more.

Players win if their total is closer to 21 than that of the dealer. If the dealer exceeds 21 then all the players still in the game win.
